France, 1940. In the primary days of occupation, stunning Lucile Angellier is trapped in a stifled existence along with her controlling mother-in-law as they each await information of her husband: a prisoner of conflict. Parisian refugees begin to pour into their small city, quickly adopted by a regiment of German troopers who take up residence within the villagers’ personal properties. Lucile initially tries to disregard Bruno von Falk, the good-looking and refined German officer staying with them. But quickly, a strong love attracts them collectively and leads them into the tragedy of conflict.
